The Minister of Commerce and Industry and Minister of State for Economic Affairs, Faisal Al-Mudlij, issued a decision permitting the replacement of the value of optional materials within the construction materials subsidy for citizens, for the holder of a new housing loan, with an increase in the quantity of steel, concrete and air conditioning worth KD 1800, and KD 1500 for the holder of a renovation loan. "Commerce" said in a press statement: "Based on the close follow-up of His Excellency the Minister of Commerce and Industry and Minister of State for Economic Affairs, Faisal Al-Mudlij, and based on changes in global prices of some basic building materials, and out of keenness to support citizens, especially with the start of granting building permits to large numbers of citizens, the Ministry of Commerce issued Decision No. 1/2021, whereby the beneficiary holding a new housing loan may increase the value of the subsidy allocated to them for basic materials (steel, concrete or air conditioning), the materials most used in construction, by KD 1800 in addition to what was previously determined." "Commerce" indicated that the decision aims to make it easier for citizens to build or renovate their homes and to provide them with the maximum possible forms of support, as the concerned person has been allowed to replace the value of their optional materials with an increase in the quantity of steel, concrete and air conditioning. Under the decision, every citizen entitled to housing support from a building loan may choose the quantity they need of steel, concrete and air conditioning from within the optional materials (sand-lime bricks, Sigma, waterproofing, thermal insulation, sanitary ware sets and electrical wires), equivalent to an amount of KD 1800. "Commerce" explained that the need of citizens to renovate their homes under the renovation law and loans has been taken into account, as the value allocated to the renovation loan from the optional subsidy has been increased to KD 1500 for all areas.
